Who we are
Insurance Clarity is a trading style of Mortgage Clarity Ltd.
Mortgage Clarity Ltd is registered in England & Wales, company number 16659980. Our registered office is 656 Chesterfield Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S8 0SB.
Mortgage Clarity Ltd is an Appointed Representative of PRIMIS Mortgage Network, a trading name of First Complete Ltd. First Complete Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. PRIMIS is registered in England, number 01849232, with a registered office at Building 5, Croxley Park, Hatters Lane, Watford, WD18 8YG.
Because of that relationship, Mortgage Clarity Ltd and PRIMIS are joint data controllers for the personal information we handle when we advise you. In plain English: we both have a legal responsibility to look after your data properly.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it and what rights you have. If anything here isn’t clear, just ask — we’d rather explain it than have you guessing.
The information we collect
Identity information — your first and last names, any previous or maiden name, date of birth, marital status, nationality and gender.
Contact information — your address and previous addresses, email address and phone numbers.
Financial information — income, employment details, outgoings, bank account details, existing debts and credit commitments, credit history and details of any existing policies or mortgages.
Health and other special category information — for insurance advice we often need details about your health, medical history, lifestyle (for example whether you smoke), occupation and family medical history. We may also hold information about disabilities, neurodivergence or other circumstances where you’ve told us you need extra support. We only collect this where it’s needed to advise you or arrange cover.
Family and dependant information — details of your partner, children or anyone else financially connected to you, where this is relevant to your advice.
Transaction information — details of the policies and products we’ve discussed, recommended or arranged for you.
Technical and usage information — IP address, browser type, device information and how you use our website. See our cookies information for more.
Marketing preferences — whether you’d like to hear from us and how.
Where we get it from
- Directly from you — in conversations, meetings, calls, emails, forms and fact-finds.
- From your interactions with our website and online booking tools.
- From third parties where relevant, such as credit reference agencies, insurers, existing providers, your employer, your accountant, Open Banking services, or someone who referred you to us (with your knowledge).

Who we share it with
We only share your information where there’s a good reason to. That may include:
- PRIMIS Mortgage Network and First Complete Ltd — as our network, for compliance, file checking and oversight.
- Insurers and product providers — so we can get quotes, submit applications and arrange your cover.
- Reinsurers, underwriters and medical professionals — where an insurer needs further information to assess an application.
- Credit reference and fraud prevention agencies — where relevant to an application.
- Our software and service providers — for example our CRM, quotation systems, email, secure document storage and appointment booking tools. They act on our instructions and are bound by contract to protect your data.
- Regulators and authorities — the FCA, HMRC, the Financial Ombudsman Service, the Information Commissioner’s Office, or law enforcement, where we’re legally required to.
- Other people you’ve asked us to deal with — such as a solicitor, accountant, employer, or a family member or representative you’ve asked us to speak to.
We do not sell your data. Ever.
Sending data outside the UK
Most of your information stays in the UK. Where a provider we use stores or processes data outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Where a policy is arranged: for the life of the policy plus a further 6 years.
- Where an application doesn’t go ahead: between 2 and 6 years, depending on how far it got.
- Call recordings used for quality checking: usually up to 1 month.
- Marketing data: until you tell us to stop, and then only what’s needed to honour that request.
We keep records this long because the FCA and our network require us to, and so we can answer any questions or complaints later on.
Keeping your information safe
We use secure systems, password protection, encryption where appropriate and access controls, and we only give access to people who need it to do their job. If anything ever went wrong, we’d tell you and the ICO where we’re required to.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Be told how your data is used — that’s what this policy is for.
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete.
- Erase your data, where we’re not legally required to keep it.
- Restrict how we use it in certain circumstances.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
- Move your data to another provider, where technically possible.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we rely on.
To use any of these rights, email info@insuranceclarity.co.uk, call 0114 697 4546, or write to us at 656 Chesterfield Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S8 0SB. We’ll respond within one month. There’s no charge for this.
Marketing
We’ll only send you marketing if you’ve agreed to it, or where we’re allowed to contact existing clients about similar services. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can tell us to stop at any time by emailing info@insuranceclarity.co.uk. Opting out of marketing doesn’t affect the service messages we need to send you about your policies.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to make it work properly and to help us understand how it’s used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Automated decision making
We don’t make decisions about you using automated processing alone. Insurers may use automated underwriting when assessing an application — if that happens and it affects the outcome, you have the right to ask for a human review by the insurer.
Complaints about your data
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first — email info@insuranceclarity.co.uk and we’ll look into it. See our Complaints Policy for how that works.
If you’re still not happy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office:
Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF Helpline: 0303 123 1113 Website: www.ico.org.uk
